How we make the videos, and why we think we can make them well.
Why we think we can do this well
Our founders have worked in professional video and animation for over twenty years, across the public, private and charity sectors. That work includes the NHS and a university medical school.
Between them they have recorded hundreds of interviews, presentations and training videos.
Both founders are neurodivergent. This work is personal to us.
How the videos are made
We make these videos for autistic viewers, so how they are made matters as much as what is in them.
- Plain language
- A calm pace, with pauses left in
- No music underneath the talking
- No fast cutting and no zooming
- A similar format each time, so people know what to expect
- Captions, a full transcript and an audio-only version for every video
Who appears in the videos
A mix of people, depending on the subject. Specialists, professional presenters and autistic adults who want to talk about their own experience.
Every video is checked by a specialist before we publish it.
Where the videos will live
The videos will have their own website, separate from this one.
They will not be published on YouTube or other social platforms. Those sites place adverts around whatever you are watching, and what comes next is chosen by an algorithm, based on what keeps people watching.
A lot of the autism content on those platforms is made by people with no relevant qualification, and some of it is made to attract views. It is hard to tell which is which.
On our own site people can go at their own pace, and everything they find has been checked.
There will be no account to set up and nothing to pay.
How people will find the videos
We want the videos to be named in the letter that arrives with an autism diagnosis.
We are also working towards being passed on by:
- GPs and NHS assessment teams
- autism charities and local support organisations
- employers and workplace networks
- universities and colleges
We want the videos to be easy to find through a search, and linked from other related websites.
What we do not do
We publish video.
- We are not a therapy or counselling service
- We are not a crisis service
- We do not diagnose or assess anyone
- We do not run a forum, a chat or comments
Every video will tell people where to get help if they need it urgently.
